Oh, Universe… Why do You Tease Me?
So, my oldest best friend (as in “we were BFFs in grade school”, not “she’s a meeeellion years old”) lives in Tucson, AZ. Her elderly mother just moved to Tucson from here in Central FL. I volunteered to drive her mom’s car from here to AZ, then fly back home, an adventure I’ll be embarking upon in just a couple of days.
Guess what I just realized is in Tucson? Al Marah Arabians!
Now, you have to understand that Arabians are my first love. When I bought my first horse, Shantana, I was fully planning on breeding her. I was certain, when I was sixteen years old, that all I wanted in life was to breed Arabian horses.
Then I figured out that I didn’t have enough money to do it right, & there were already way too many people doing it wrong.
In any case, Bazy Tankersley & Al Marah are on my short list of People Who are Doing it VERY Right! While countless breeders are cranking out borderline-psychotic giraffe hybrids who are good for nothing but looking “exotic”, Al Marah is producing horses who have brains and athletic ability in addition to being drop-dead gorgeous.
Case in point, Al Marah Quebec:
Um… yes, please! He’s approved by the American Trakehner Association, BTW. ::swoons::
Anyway… Al Marah hosts an open house on the first Saturday of every month. Unfortunately, that will be right after I leave Tucson.
That seriously makes me want to cry.
Mapquest says that Al Marah is only 25 minutes away from my friend’s house. Perhaps I can just drive by & drool.
